Leave a gift in your Will for the animals

A gift in your Will to Wellington SPCA is a very special last act of kindness.  By leaving a gift in your Will, you can ensure that the love you have for animals can continue for countless generations to come.  You’ll be helping to ensure that in the future, thousands of animals passing through our centres get the love they all need and deserve.

WHY LEAVE A GIFT IN YOUR WILL TO WELLINGTON SPCA?

Wellington SPCA receives no government funding to help us in our animal welfare work.  Instead, we rely on the generosity of animal lovers to support animals through the precious gift they leave in their Will.  Most people do not realise that legacies are our largest source of funding and our on-going lifeblood providing income for many years ahead. They literally save the lives of countless animals every year.

Leaving a gift to the animals is a fitting way to celebrate the love and companionship you have enjoyed during your own lifetime. Your gift can help ensure that the SPCA will always be here to help animals through our essential work.

THE VARIOUS WAYS YOU CAN LEAVE A GIFT TO WELLINGTON SPCA

There are a variety of ways to leave a gift in your Will to Wellington SPCA depending on what suits you best:

  • A residual legacy – The most efficient way to remember Wellington SPCA.  After you have provided for your loved ones and all expenses taken care of the remainder of your estate or a percentage can be left to Wellington SPCA.
  • A pecuniary legacy - This is the gift of a specified sum of money.
  • A nominated percentage – This gift leaves a percentage of your total estate to Wellington SPCA – nominating a percentage of your estate ensures your gift is not restricted by inflation.
  • Specified bequest - This is where you leave a specific named item, for example, works of art, or stocks and shares, or even property.

Your gift means a great deal to Wellington SPCA, and to assist you in writing your Will, please see our Legacy Programme brochure with recommended wording for your Will.

Deciding how you wish to divide your estate can be a complex undertaking.  We therefore encourage you to consult with a solicitor, and discuss your intentions with family and loved ones. This is key to ensuring your charitable wishes are honoured.

When you have made the decision to leave a gift to the animals, you can let us know through our easy online pledge form.

PEACE OF MIND FOR PET OWNERS

We understand that pets are part of your family, and just as with your loved ones, provisions should be made for them should you pass away before they do.

Our Home Ever After programme is a free service that gives you peace of mind and helps safeguard your pet’s future. After your death, Wellington SPCA will be there for your cherished cats and dogs.  We will collect your faithful companion, and then do everything we can to find your pet a loving forever home.
