SPCA to the rescue in Edgecumbe

11 Apr 2017

Our SPCA team has been working overtime in Edgecumbe to save animals that have been separated from their owners and trapped by flood waters. They have been plowing through floodwaters and saved dozens of animals, including cows, ducks, dogs, cats, rabbits, chickens, puppies and kittens.

On Friday the team spent three hours saving a cow and her calf from going underwater, and used a boat to rescue two dogs who were neck-deep in water in a backyard. They are also making sure pets in the dry area have food and water. Thank you to our incredible SPCA Inspectors, volunteers and the SPCA National Rescue Unit for your dedication over the last couple of days. It's been a busy weekend for our SPCA workers in Edgecumbe.

They've been working from about 6am to midnight each day visiting homes in the flooded town searching for animals. Moments like this make it all worthwhile.
