Found Pets Information
Wellington SPCA is an approved organisation under the Animal Welfare Act (1999) to care for lost cats, puppies (under 3 months old), rabbits and other small animals. Wandering or stray dogs and livestock are managed by each local council's Animal Control.
If you find a sick or injured animal you should immediately bring it to Wellington SPCA, or call us and we will come and collect it. We collect sick and injured animals 24-hours a day, 7 days a week.
If you find a pet you think is lost, or have noticed an animal hanging around you home, you should first check with your neighbours to see if they know who owns the pet. Put up some posters in your area, ideally with a photo of the animal, to see if an owner comes forward. List the animal as found on www.petsonthenet.co.nz. If after 48 hours you have not found an owner for the animal, please bring it in to Wellington SPCA during opening hours or call us and we will come and collect it.
Help find our animals a new home by adding our Adoption Widget and see our animals for adoption on your site.
