Animal Rescue Unit

Wellington SPCA's Animal Rescue Unit (ARU) is a volunteer group that provides a technical rescue service for trapped animals.

ARU specialises in high-angle rescue with an emphasis on the welfare of the trapped animal.

ARU volunteers are trained for situations where animals are stuck on cliffs, in trees, in restricted spaces (like under a house or in between office buildings), or even in holes in the ground. They are also trained to assist animals in any Civil Defence emergency that might occur.
