How to report animal cruelty

If you are concerned about the welfare of an animal, it is important that you take swift and responsible action.

If possible, take notes of what took place, what you saw, remembering these particular points:

• Exact location and address of place involved
• Animal or animals involved, including as much detail as possible of their condition
• Registration number and description of any vehicles involved
• Clear description of any persons involved
• The time and date the incident occurred

Contact Wellington SPCA, your local SPCA branch www.rnzspca.org.nz or Police Station, giving full details of what you saw.

Any details given to an Inspector will be kept in the strictest confidence. It is important to give your name, address and contact telephone numbers when reporting a matter to Wellington SPCA.

Please do not email complaint information as the telephone is always the quickest method.
