A huge thanks to everyone who has been busying away knitting hundreds of jumpers for our young puppies.
The pups are already feeling the benefits of their winter woolies and look set to keep toasty for the rest of the season!
But it’s not just our puppies who need to keep warm in winter – cats and kittens can feel the cold too. So, if you want to help them keep warm and cosy, or just fancy a change from knitting jumpers, why not knit a lovely snuggly blanket instead?
And what’s great about blankets is that you don’t even need to follow a pattern! The ideal blanket is just a simple square measuring 18 inches by 18 inches and much like puppy jumpers, can be made from any left over spare bits of wool you may have lying around.
Blankets not only keep our cats and kittens warm, but they become the ultimate ‘comfort blanket’. When a cat or kitten is adopted from us they take their blanket with them – something familiar to help with settling in to their new unfamiliar surroundings.
You can send your kitty blankets to either our Newtown or Waikanae animal centres.
Thank you!
