Become a Dog Squad Member

Wellington SPCA needs new Dog Squad members. What is Dog Squad and what does it involve?

The Dog Squad is made up of teams of people who, along with their dogs, raise funds by collecting in a given place. Dog Squaders collect for 2 hours each on a Saturday or Sunday once every 3 months or so, usually outside a shopping centre. So we need to have a few collectors to fill the day. Dogs need to be provided with water and a blanket to sit on during their collection time.

There are three Dog Squad divisions within the region each with their own co-ordinator who plan each event and liase with the “Squaders” regarding collection days. These three areas are Wellington, Lower Hutt and Johnsonville/Tawa.

If you can spare time to help and your dog is friendly and relaxed, join up now!

Hold a Stall or Event

A stall at a fair or gala, perhaps a sponsored dog walk, car wash or office mufti day are just some of the ways you can help raise funds for the animals at Wellington SPCA and they can be fun!

These fundraising ideas are a great way to raise awareness of the SPCA and promote the work we do as well as helping provide for the animals at the Shelter.
We can also provide promotional material for a fundraising activity you may want to organise.

Become a Fundraising Volunteer

We have many options for people who are willing to donate their time to help. As well as our famous Dog Squad we have different events that you may like to volunteer your support, such as our annual Street Day Appeal (held in November) and general events.

If you can spare time to help out with any of these events email: lisa.snow@wellingtonspca.org.nz
