Are you willing to help?
Since 1884 Wellington SPCA has
been providing for the animals in our region. Today we rescue,
rehome and reunite thousands of animals every year.
Our mission is to promote the humane treatment of animals
and to prevent cruelty to animals. We aim to educate people
to make them aware that there are alternatives to neglect
and abuse of animals. That respect and care for each other,
our environment and the animals with which we share that environment
will bring a better result for all.
But providing good-quality care and protection for these
animals is a costly business, and each year brings us new
challenges. To be able to continue this work is vital, but
we need your help.
Wellington SPCA does not receive any government funding,
nor do we quality for assistance from the Lottery Grants Board.
Instead, we rely totally upon the good nature and generosity
of the public.
Your financial help is needed to ensure that Wellington SPCA
will be there in the future. It will be needed…….
How?
1. Remember Wellington SPCA in your will with a gift for
our work in the future.
2. Become a financial member of the Society and support our
work now.

Bequest Information
If you wish to remember Wellington SPCA in your will, there
are some important points to note:
Our name is Wellington Society for the Prevention of Cruelty
to Animals Inc. (We are not RNZSPCA, or Royal New Zealand
Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.)
As our work is so varied, we would be grateful if you could
work your bequest along the following lines:
“I, (name), would like to bequeath (amount to
Wellington Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals
Inc for the general purposes of the Society and its work.”
If you wish to be specific about your bequest, please make
your intent clear. For example:
“ for the work of the Society in the Kapiti Coast
District” or “for the care and protection of
cats and kittens” or “ for the work carried
out by the Education Unit”.
If you decide to help Wellington SPCA by remembering the
Society in your will, we suggest that you take advice from
a lawyer of Public Trust.
Free will service
Your will prepared at no cost to you…….
On the understanding that Wellington SPCA is listed as a
beneficiary in your will, we agree to meet reasonable legal
costs involved in the preparation of your will.
After you have finalized the terms of your will (we do not
need to see a copy), simply arrange for your lawyer to send
the account to Wellington SPCA. A fee exceeding $100.00 will
require our prior approval.
When you’ve done all you can for your family …
consider us and what we do.
It is only with the ongoing support of thousands of New Zealanders
that we can maintain our education and support programmes.
All gifts, large and small, do make a difference. Often our
supporters have wanted to continue their support past their
lifetime and have achieved this by remembering the SPCA after
having provided for their families.
There are several ways in which you can make a gift. Consider
these options…….
• The simplest is by way of a residue gift. After providing
for your family, you can nominate that your want to leave
part or all of what is left of your estate (the residue) to
Wellington SPCA.
• Another way is by leaving a nominated percentage
or fraction of your estate to Wellington SPCA.
• Or you may prefer to leave a specific gift –
an amount of money, real estate, jewellery, shares, bonds
or such other gift as you wish to nominate.
